WHITE HOUSE ADMITS IRAQ NUKE CLAIM IS BOGUS

Five-​​and-​​a-​​half months after President Bush declared that Saddam Hussein was buy­ing ura­nium in Africa;
four months after doc­u­ments sup­port­ing the asser­tion were shown to be fakes;
one day after a for­mer ambas­sador inves­ti­gat­ing the African ura­nium claim said that the Bush admin­is­tra­tion “twisted” intel­li­gence about Iraq’s nuclear ambi­tions;
and a few hours after White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said that there was “zero, nada, noth­ing new” in the ambassador’s rev­e­la­tions,
the Bush admin­is­tra­tion finally admit­ted that its alle­ga­tion of an Iraqi nuclear shoop­ing spree in Africa is bogus.
