BOMB-​​SNIFFING ‘BOTS TO IRAQ

Police forces have been using robots for were to col­lect and defuse bombs. Now, the Pentagon is send­ing 150 of the ‘bots to Iraq, look for the impro­vised explo­sive devices (IEDs) which have been so deadly to American G.I.s.
“Cameras in the small, tele-​​operated robots allow troops to safely inspect a sus­pected IED while their ‘dis­rup­tor’ arms, or shotgun-​​like devices, fire shells to shat­ter IEDs,” Defense News explains.
