		<description>I love the crew chiefs comments above.  If there is anything I&#039;ve learned from studying about UH-60s is that no one loves those birds more then the chiefs.  The crew chiefs are the unappreciated oil that makes everything run smoothly.  If I ever make it as a pilot I&#039;ll make sure to respect those guys.

I was a crew chief for a couple of years but I worked and sweated on them birds for 10 yrs.  The high pitch whirr you heard was from the main gearbox.  The sun gear is about 3.5-4 ft in dia.
