What, no blimps?

CanadaUSborder.jpg
Want to secure your borders? Heres a state of the art model to look at:
– First, a razor wire fence;
– Then a road for vehicle patrols;
– Another fence that sends out an alarm when it is cut;
– A 400 foot gap covered with motion sensors and night vision cameras (the Soviets had a similar strip along their western border, which they would rake every morning and then have patrols look for footprints during the day — of course, they also used mines);
– Finally, another fence with more sensors.

This is what Israel plans to put around Gaza after its withdrawal, to prevent infiltration by terrorists. The cost is about $2.3 million per mile. For the 2000-plus mile U.S. southern border, the cost of this would get close to $5 billion, and the cost would more than double for a similar system on the longer northern border.
blimp3.JPG
The Border Patrol Service (part of DHS) has been increased in size several times since 2001, but the steady growth in the number of patrols and sensors has not stopped the flow of immigrants (and its worth asking whether it best serves the national interest to stop immigrants coming to the U.S. for economic reasons, as opposed to blocking illegal crossings by terrorists and criminals).
A high tech fortified border might cost too much even for the U.S., suggesting that in this case, a solution is likely to require coming up with better immigration rules rather relying only on more patrollers and a technological fix.

I had recommended when HomelAND SECURITY was first initiated to use the German Zepplin, it is highly manuverable, has a large passenger compartment
for electronic capability, can stay up for 24 hours, and does not require a large ground crew for landing, One man only, this has been operational for years, presently used to haul passengers, and has passed all flight test and approvals. This could be leased for testing, and hold down cost. no need to come up with some thing new and go through developement cost.

The question is, how do you block illegal crossings by terrorists and criminals while at the same time allowing economic immigrants into the country? Suppose we created a process by which economic immigrants could enter our country in a “secure” manner. We still have the problem (and expense) of securing the border from terrorists and criminals.

Be sure to balance the $5 billion against what illegal immigration costs the states and the Federal government every year. What would the maintenance cost of such a barrier be?

Folks, just because what we’re doing now fails as a policy does not mean we should resort to the easiest and cheapest fix.
It’s illegal immigration and there IS a solution. Looking at only the positives for what the illegal immigrants bring is insincere debate. There IS a cost and I’m tired of paying it.

Everyone mentions cost. But what cost is there? Human lives, dollars to build, or REbuild everything NORTH of wetback junction. How much time do we have before American cities are bombed, like Hiroshima.
I taught TQL,where we are trained to LOOK AHEAD. Anticipate whatever maybe comming our way. But our present political leadership has been taught Political Correctness, curtesy of Gramsky,Hitler and Clinton. This is OUR government, SPEAK UP to ALL levels of buracracy. Speak publically. Speak to those dear to you, into ACTION.
Our biggest fault, is that we rest on our laurels, which in hindsight looks alot like our EGOS. Rust and evil never rest. Neither should WE. VIGILENCE ACTION SURVIVAL

Interesting FactSheet from Space and Missile Defense Command on High Altitude Airships. This may have been posted before, but it does bolster the theory of Military involvement in the Stratellite.
    http://www.smdc.army.mil/FactSheets/HAA.pdf
Here’s a quote from a December 14. 2004 Globetel press release that also emphasizes SMDC’s desire for involvement in the Stratellite design and build process.
Sanswire has been contacted by the U.S. Army’s Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) which expressed its desire to be involved in the sharing of technology and information as well as possible involvement in the development of the Stratellite. In addition to the commercial applications being developed by GTEL, the SMDC sees several military intelligence gathering and operational applications for Stratellite-type systems.
Stewart Stout, a member of the SMDC, stated, The Army is interested in this type of capability. We would like to start an interchange of ideas and technologies for stratospheric airships. Technologies like the Stratellite can be used for numerous military applications such as a battlefield resource, border control and surveillance, communications and homeland security. We look forward to attending the conference.

I don’t understand why this has to all be done. Just a fence with razor wire at the top would slow the flow quite a bit and if at the same time you built a little dirt road with it you could drive back and forth up and down the boarder and catch those guys climing the fence much of the time. 200 trucks moving back and forth on a 200 mile road would mean you need to get over the fence and out of site in less than 10 or 15 minutes if you are lucky.
2.3 million a mile seems way over the top in over all cost when I suspect that for $100k or less a mile you could have road and fence which is 90% of the problem right there.

I say AGAIN: it’s ILLEGAL immigration, folks. We certainly need immigration for our country’s growth but allowing others to dictate to us what they’re going to do is destined to fail.

The US needs to stop letting the Hispanic groups dictate our foreign policy. Our politicians are so eager for their votes that they will sell our childrens future to get those vote.
“Affirmative active” was put in place to help the minorities in the US get equal placement in the social and economic standing of the country.
We need this same type of action on immigration. Right now Hispanics are 90% of the illegal and almost 90% of the legal immigrants. It is because of their racist/ethnist desire that their own ethic groups be placed above all others in the US that we are at this point now.
My wife is from Asia, and is always asked by the
few friends of hers that are actually allowed to visit us, why America prefers spanish-speakers so much more than them. An affirmative action plan for imigration would certainly be a wake up call for the immigration community.
Also, Ireland a years or so ago eliminated the policy of “if you are born here, you are a citizen”. they changed it to “if you are born here legally and of a citizen”…Every other country in Western Europe already had that policy.…So, when do we get the same policy, and join the rest of the first world countries?
One last note. If we as a coutry start severely punishing the companies that use illegals, both monetarily and with prison time, they might start to see the benefit of using americans for the labor. Sure, food prices might go up a few pennies, and the companies might make a little less profit, but a better balance in the country will be acheived. If you think the farms will come to a stop if the illegals are blocked, you are naive. I live in an area with a high concentration of migrant workers. The majority of the migrant workers are Americans. But, they have to compete with the illegals for the jobs at the farms. While the Americans spend their money here, much of the money earned by the illegals is sent to Mexico, where it helps their economy, not ours.

    ILLEGAL Immigration!
That means we have laws in place making this a crime.
We also have rules and regulation defining LEGAL immigration.
The individual has a choice whether to enter the USA legally or ILLEGALLY! If they choose the latter then they are criminals. If a change in the law is needed it shouldn’t be to improve legal immigration but instead to make it legal to shoot ILLEGAL immigrants.
Question: If someone came into your home illegally would you ignore them???

I think one thing we need to implement now, while we’re debating on how to rid ourselves of the problem of illegal immigration, is a national sales tax. Can I get an Amen? At least with a national sales tax we could tap into that ‘tax free’ money the illegals are making under the table. Sure, our cost of living would rise a bit, but so would their cost of living… and their income would be taxed everytime they went to the stores. Why not let them help pay for border patrols, fences, and all the welfare they’re sapping from tax paying American citizens while they’re here illegally?

Why even play with this. If we plainly put it out that because of terrorism threats no immigration will be allowed. If you try to take the chance during these times …expect to be fired upon and the most likely thing that will happen is the flys will consume your corpse. Plain and simple rule. Do not try to cross our borders illegally right now, you will be shot. If you cross legally we will see you at the check point at which time you can go through the regular screening and either be accepted or denied. DO NOT CROSS without a visa. No Exceptions Allowed. We will not ask questions first. If you are in the boundry illegally you WILL be shot.
A 13 cent bullet is much cheaper way to assure our borders are NOT crossed and there are plenty of flys down there to consume the bodies within a matter of a couple weeks Im sure. Dam I sound kinda rotten this morning but the USA needs to take care of it’s own before any others !!

We are putting the cork on the wrong side: Round up illegals; ID each one of them up to and including DNA; return them to where they come from; put a $5K per head cost on each one of them (first time) send the bill to Senor Fox; he wont pay, put a tarriff on any and all goods from Mexico. Second time make it $10K and etc. Fox will seal that border tomorrow, else the pace of companies fleeing Mexico for Asia will increase, and he will have a wide spread revolution on his grimy hands. Put the burden on the clowns encouraging illegal immigration, including employers in the US.

How about the fella your so proud of, former Pres.Mr Clinton(not that Im against a good blow job)? I take it your not Military anyway, or ya wouldnt be talking about your commander in chief this way to start with! matter of fact… just leave move south to Harlingen Tx and by yourself handle the mexican terrorists by ya self. Terrorists… these people migrate to texas and beyond because they havent the means in their country to work as effectivly as they do in this country…so we give “work visas”. If you lived in Texas maybe you would acknowledged the fact that alot of “Texans” (and others) have hired them out on a hourly or daily basis for work because the legal day laborers that are here cost the “Texans” living in it so damn much no one can afford anything but these 4 dollar an hour laborers.

Its pretty funny how all the gun fanatics want to shoot at “illegal immigrants” but I see them using it as another way for them to try to use the law to carry out their racists acts. I dont agree with the flow of illegals coming into the US but to shoot them. It was ok when other than Mexicans came to this country but now that we see there numbers grow it scares many people. Lets use that excuse that they take jobs, well there are jobs for them because Americans are too lazy to take those jobs offered to illegals. We should have done that when the Irish, Puerto Ricans, Italians, Native Americans, wait they have already been shot at and killed. Lets us our heads here and be civilized Christians instead of murderers.

OK back to reality! I know having day laborers fro Mexico isnt the best thing to do… but when our “help” here charges 15 bucks an hour to pick “berries” as someone mentioned, people look for different areas to pay for such help or in all look for different laborers… correct me if Im wrong. Again not trying to say the illegals are a good thing, hell I was raised on a farm we had/have plenty immigrants working for us. Because they worked for less and with more pride in their work… show me a homless guy or a minority of true legality in this nation that would do the same… the ETHICS are different with these people. Yes they send money home…our money, agreed I dont like it, but… BUT I need to make a living too!
Find me an alternative and Im all over it… Fact of the matter for our mexican illegals is that they work! and they do it cheaply! wanna dicuss the issue of welfare? I would hire them in a second if they would actually show up! Americans have gotten lazy! A free buck is ez to make not ez to earn! Sorry for the offensiveness I have portrayed for other fellow Texans possibly.

After perusing the comments and doing some of my own research, I’ve come to some conclusions and opinions about the whole border and immigration issue. I’ll detail them as follows:
    1. I cannot deny what many others have said about illegal immigrants crossing our borders. Illegal immigration is just that, ILLEGAL. Since the law specifically states the do’s and don’ts regarding immigration to this country, it should be pretty simple that the law should be enforced.
    2. Being a veteran of the U.S. Army, I have experienced a HUGE wastage of materiel and manpower at some of our home bases here in the States. Soldiers “train” for a style of warfare that has long since been relegated to the Cold War era. I have seen tanks, armored personnel carriers, vehicles, etc. sitting in huge motor pools do nothing but leaking oil and requiring constant maintenance. Why not put these troops and materiel to good use and have them patrol our borders; NOT to shoot illegals or perpetrate attrocities against foreigners because we don’t want them here, but to PROTECT our borders from those who wish to hurt our citizens, our property, and our way of life. Our military is being wasted, in my opinion, while they are “stateside”, by a policy that purports to train them for war, but does not give them any “real world” missions to give them experience. It’s a waste of manpower, a waste of time and, most importantly, a waste of precious tax-payer dollars.
    3. In this day and age of technological wizardry, the ability of our military to respond to global threats is unsurpassed and unprecendented. I harken back to a time when the United States was engaged in a policy of Isolationism. While I do not insinuate that we should just drop everything and pull all our troops home, I do support a policy of gradual withdrawal from the World Stage, insomuch as we continue to support our allies if/when they need us, but that we start forcing them to “foot the bill” for the UN instead of having most UN missions become a 90% American supported affair. The lack of BILLION dollar expenditures on questionable foreign policies might just help to offset new immigration polices and steps to protect our borders.
    4. Reverse the decision to support NAFTA, and regain some ground for American companies trying to compete with foreign ones. Read this article: http://www.citizen.org/trade/nafta/
It explains the details of what NAFTA was thought to be, and what it has become. It’s a perfect example of what has happened since we’ve become “numb” to what Congress does in our absence.
These are just a few of the opinions and things I’ve formulated after researching this issue on the ‘net. It’s interesting what you can find and learn when you do a little surfing.

Ok some of you who have wrote your comments on here must not think well. Or are just plain dumb. it dont matter what we do, if someone wants in the US bad enough, they will find a way or die trying. And Using a fence about 20 or 25 feet high with blades would work. just me i have tried to get out of juvie halls before and the fences slow you down and cut the f*ck out of your skin when going over. and thats why you put up two fences. so they can’t just climb over jump downb and run. with a 20 to 25 foot fence it takes the adverage person a good 20 minutes to get over the first fence and they still got another fence to go and most would be tired. then later you can add more to that, cameras, dogs, men, anything you would work.

It’s nice to see Americans speaking up about this issue. But quite frankly, unless someone’s printing this messageboard out, and sending it to congress, every day and then some, that’s all it’s ever gonna be — a messageboard to pour your energies to. I’m not supporting the illegal actions of these people, and I do agree with protecting my country; but seriously, until someone (who cares enough to do so) does something other than leave a message.……nothing will change, not even with a different president. As for protecting our land from the terrorists — it’s mentioned in the Holy book that terror will spread and there’s nothing anyone can really do about it except save their souls. By the time anything significant is done, we all be in Heaven or Hell. BTW: Bring our troops Home!

Im a 17 year old male that lives in Mexico you have no idea how much I hate terrorisim and wish to join the battle but I dont have a green card (plus I first want to finish high school) I have a no criminal back ground the point is Im not a terrorist or some rapist, kidnapper, etc I just want to help. And why do I say make things easier for the people that wish to fight???,because gettin a green card is not easy and take to much time…thanks for reading this please post something,anything.….sorry for my grammar

I’m remember the still fortified Korean DMZ and also walked patrols along the East Greman– West German border that was mined back in the ‘80s. And patrolled the West German– Czech border. We need to do some radical change to slow down or stop the problem. The Minute Men watch groups that are in AZ, NM and TX don’t have a set standard and need to be regulated. But it’s a start. When you have bordering sister cities like Nuevo Laredo and it’s corrupt police department. Who on the other side do you look for help from. It should be a joint effort to slow down or stop the illegal border crossings because it’s not like We (USA vs Mexico or Canada) have been at war with each other lately.

There are already policies in place for those serving in the military of the United States to become citizens. It is an expedited process as of this year and the base legal office will assist you for free. Contact a recruiter for your service of choice and ask them for their advice on joining our military. Maybe you will get lucky.

WE HAVE TO STOP GIVING ILLEGAL ALIENS ANY TYPE OF CARE OR BENEFIT. IF PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP ISN’T SHOWN,NO MEDICAL ATTENTION,FOOD STAMPS, WELFARE , SUBSIDIZED HOUSING,AUTOMATIC NATURALIZED CITIZENSHIP DUE TO BEING BORN IN THE U.S OR ANY OTHER BENEFIT NOT LISTED SHOULD BE DENIED AT THE TIME OF THE REQUEST.FURTHERMORE,THAT PERSON ATTEMPTING TO REAP THAT DESIRED SERVICE SHOULD BE DETAINED BY ANY LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE GOVERNMENT OF THAT COUNTRY SHOULD THEN PAY FOR ANY AND ALL FOOD , HOUSING AND TRANSPORTATION COSTS TO DEPORT THAT INDIVIDUAL.

From what I been reading most of you are pretty stupid and ignorant. As a son of an illegal alien which is now a naturalized patiotic citizen I always dreamed of joing the Military. I joined the Marines and have served overseas and in Iraq back in OIF I. My whole family has at one time been illegal and are probably more succesful than most of you on this forum. My mom started in factories, worked as a waitress, learned English, started her own restaurant and owns commercial property. I have family all over this country. My aunt which was illegal probably taught some of your kids cause she’s a teacher. My brother in law makes more money than most of you. He owns 2 company’s and has enough dough to buy a 70k car. My sister owns a daycare so are far as mooching off the system go shove it. Also just to state for record if any you did your research the ones that are sucking our taxdollars dry are, you guessed it, white but I guess you guys forgot about that.
Traits of families on AFDC (1)
    Race
    ————–
    White 38.8%
    Black 37.2
    Hispanic 17.8
    Asian 2.8
    Other 3.4
Alot of Mexican where here decades before any of your ancestors and if you had any brains would realize that. When the U.S. took over the Southwest many Mexican’s became citizens over night probably way before any of you or your family did. Anyways what gives any of you the right to talk. Just because your parents or grandparents got into the country less than a century ago you guys think it’s cool now to close the borders. Give me a break. There are plenty of illegal Irish, German, and other Europeans that are here illegaly but i guess it’s ok cause there white. Your all damn Pilgrims who had no right to this country to begin with. You guys talk about illegal immigration like you guys are actually entitled to be here. Mexicans and Native Americans have more a right than any European but it’s not even about that. If you guys paid attention to current events you would know that what happened on September 11th was not carried out by a Mexican or illegal Latino. The men that carried it out were Muslims that came to this country Legally or on Visas. So how would closing the borders stop that. What you morons didn’t think about that huh? You guys should count your lucky stars that illegals are coming here to work because if not you’d be all upset because your paying more for your products and services because you know that all these lazy unemployed legal citizens of ours aren’t going to take the minimum wage job cleaning shitters, mowing lawns in hot ass weather, working construction or watching your kids. It’s sad that on an eductated website like this there’s alot of racist but that’s ok, cause I feel sorry for you guys. It’s just ignorancy. I know how your grandparents felt when they first came to this country looking for a better place and where being spat on for being Irish, German, Polish, Italian, etc but I guess people are quick to forget those times. I guess we should have closed the borders then too huh. Many of you should watch Gangs of New York to see how your grandparents where treated when they first came. As a Marine I might not agree with what any of you say but I’ve already risked my life to defend your right to say it.

In my opinion something that will save some of the economical problems we are facing with illegal immigration is stricter laws for companies or people taking advantage of the “illegal” immigrants. I live in San Diego and a majority of the hispanics coming here to work have work visa’s. I think its horrible that you people who have stated that you hire your help for 4 dollars an hour. That is outrageous and exploitive. You are the ones hurting the economy because you are exploiting those hispanics who work in the U.S. and live in Mexico.
This problem is not caused by “illegal” immigrants, it is caused by companies and employers who have ZERO ethics, those who exploit illegal immigration which causes more illegal immigration. The sooner this exploitation stops, the sooner these illegal immigrants will actually become tax paying citizens. Who’s going to live in the U.S. and support a family all on thier own with 4.00 an hour and no health care? The reason they work in the U.S. and live in Mexico is because of this exploitation and because it would be impractical to try to support a family in the U.S. at 4.00 an hour. As for the border, I agree it needs to be closed but in order to stifle terrorism. Even then, terrorists in the past have not come through mexico, but have used airlines and have actually come through and trained in the U.S. legally! Additionally, I agree with the USMC Sergeant, and im caucasian FYI.

I’m tired of hearing about the poor Mexicans. Illegal, is just that, illegal. Has anyone really asked how many jobs they fill that no american wants? Statistics are a funny thing. The southern border needs to sealed, and immigration treated just like any other country. The southern border is a joke, and at the present rate of infiltration the southern part of the US is going to have to learn to speak Spanish if they want to communicate.

i would like to know why americans sit around and bitch about illegal immigration and do nothing about it. a bunch of armchair critics if you ask me. the people that are actually sacrificing their time and going down and watching the borders themselves are the true patroits and the elected official that we the people allow to run this country are telling the border patrol to allow them through to avoid the embaressment of their actions , or in this case inactions. they dont want the minute men to appear that they are effective so that the aclu can effectivly minupliate you so that you conform. ingorance. shame on the people. if the goverment sux, the only ones that have the power to change it is you. get off your asses.

The illegals come here for the economic benefits. We are a generous nation giving welfare to those that need it but at a tremendous cost to us. The Mexicans here send back to Mexico $20 Billion dollars a year. Most the that money comes from the social welfare that we provide, food stamps, housing assistance, meals, medical treatment, etc. Their wages are not high enough to generate that income.
We need to enforce the laws against hiring illegals and go after the companies that do the hiring. That will dry up the demand. Illegals are hired because they work cheap ( we all pay for that). Guatemalans will work 1/3 the wage of a Mexican and some Chinese will work cheaper than that.
Companies do not have the incentive to reduce production costs through automation when there is an unlimited supply of cheap labor from south of our border, Russia and China.
We do not have the political will to solve this huge problem. This is a Government /political problem.

borders are one thing , what about all the jobs that are shipped to 3rd world countries? bush wants more aliens allowed into our country to do the jobs americans don’t want to do . i say if the employers pay enough there are no jobs that americans won’t do. walmart has factories in latin america when they sent thier own exec. jim bill, to check on the working conditions of the empoyees there he was apalled fire exits padlocked extreme heat undrinkable water forced overtime pay shortages. when he complained to walmart headquarters about these conditions he was fired he was told he was not a team player. we need to stop anyone from entering our country any way possible 5 billion sounds cheap to me. we also need to really consintrate on sending illegals back to there own country.

I came back to see what responses I got and sounds like the same old BS. Do you know what keeps this country’s economy going? Immigrants. Immigrants if anyone of you knuckleheads ever study demographics would know that are country without immigrants would not have enought people to replace the work force because americans nowadays aren’t having the amount of kids we use to. We’re on averge having 2–3. Which means if immigrants weren’t coming over to work and live here and we all ended up getting older there wouldn’t be enough people to work all the jobs and if you guys did study that then you would know Japan is going through this right now and guess what there doing to offset the problem? You guessed allowing immigrants to come and work there. I wouldn’t expect you idiots to know that. Now I know you guys are always bitchin about illegal this and illegal that; but bottom line is it doesn’t matter if your legal or illegal. If your skin is brown then you can’t be here. Sorry to say that’s the truth. All you here is Mexico this and mexicans that and again i’d like to point out that illegal aliens aren’t only Hispanic they’re european, asian, african, etc. Do you know what the damn problem is, it’s that when immigrants put in for Visa or workers permits the bureaucracy is so shity that it’s almost impossible to get approved. So what do you do? Live in poverty or look for a better life for your kids. What would you do. Many of you don’t know but I better your grandparents do. I know alot more patriotic illegals than most of you or better yet than these damn militiamen which are anti-government but wait there US citizens there legal. There the ones that should be deported. What should be done to all of you is, guess what just because your 2nd or 3rd generation citizens of which many of you are and won’t admit, the only way you get citizenship is by serving your country in a war zone if your not willing than I guess your county’s not important enough to you and your ass should be deported. Just go back to watching Seinfeld and NFL Sunday and live your little pathetic lives. I’ll go back to serving my country faithfully. Iraqi War Vet out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That kind of money is wasted DAILY in iraq so bush can “look” like he’s “doing something” (AKA put on an act for the evangelical jesus nuts).
