Everyone --even Yankees fans -- knows who the most hated owner in baseball is. Lots of folks hate the Yankees while supporting teams other than the Sox. But yes, that is the way to bet ... the Red Sox have the best AWAY Game attendance (possibly due to the large number of nationally-ranked schools within walking distance of the park?), so yes, odds are that a pithy and on-target remark such as that comes from a Sox fan, even if not a Proper Bostonian. I don't like it when people whose mailing list or blog is their only social contact go off on long off-topic rants even when I agree with them -- it's still off-topic, not what I read the medium for. At least these are just wasted links. If this collateral-ego-drivel were labelled [OT:NYY] so I could ignore them completely, I wouldn't mind here at all. As it is, I can hit the back button quickly (with broadband), little harm in it -- every serious on-line journo desserves one hobby-horse. For a sadly balanced view of the lamest East Division race in years, see the Monitor -- http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/0930/p02s02-ussc.html . As regards the NYY, well, let's just say the only thing more pathetic than the Sox's classic september slump is that the Best Payroll in Baseball had to rely on the Sox Slump to crawl into a one-game lead. Somebody didn't get his money's worth. If DefenseTech wants to ride Boston in an on topic way, take another look at the Pepper Gun incident last year and the fallout. My view on baseball -- MLB ate their seedcorn with the strikes. (And Boxing on Ice did it even worse!) How long til we admit the DH is bad for Baseball? Is the WildCard really all about advertising revenue in September? But it *is* nice to see folks Bunting and Stealing again -- the running game is back. Will the league ever again have enough pitchers to have decent bullpens in September? How come comments don't have a Preview button?
