Iran’s Arsenal for Sale

Grade-B dictators, guerilla chieftains: you are in luck. You’ve been jonesing to give your troops the latest, greatest gear. But those Lockheed prices? Oy! Even if the Americans let the big contractors sell to you, you’d have to start mortgaging palaces to come up with the cash.
ieimil.jpgFortunately, there’s a solution: Iran Electronic Industries, “Western Performance” at “Eastern Prices.“
The Tehran-based firm “was established in 1972 and presently is the major producer of electronic systems and products in Iran,” according to its website. “The foundation of Iran Electronics Industries took place with the help of some reputable international companies like and at the time being has the co-operation of some well-known companies like L.G., Acer, Deawoo, Kenwood, Sagem, Kyodo, NEC etc.“
IEI specializes in four areas: communications, optics, electro optics, and “electronic warefare [sic].” Think encrypted radios. Think laser range finders. Think night vision goggles, “Making a Day from the End of the Day.” The firm also claims to make a mean proximity fuse.
“To keep pace with the frontrunners of military technology, IEI has launched ambitious campaigns with focus on modern management methods as well as research and development,” the site promises. They’ve got six subsidiaries, developing everything from a “super data base.” to semiconductors. “Pinning its hopes to the six mentioned subsidiaries [and] aggressive managers… IEI is aiming for stronger positions in both regional and global markets.”

Remotely controlled ieds are fifty year-old technology, already well-known to the Iraqis. The Palestinians don’t need Iran to give them the technology. Trying to pin the blame on Iran is merely a cheap cop-out.

I am looking forward to their ‘radar’ section. Cant find radars (of any kind) in the United States. Although customs and .gov would probably be dictators and not allow anyone to import anything.
Even then it would be supporting Iran. And Iran’s religion is not moral and able to coexist with us non religious people. So I hope people dont actually give Iran any business.

rutty please tell me where you can buy radar systems in the united states.
and please tell me how you can operate them with the ATF and Department of Defense setting procedures, laws, and regulations against operating radar networks.
Also im sure the department of commerce has unconstitionally forbidden the sale of them in thr first place anyways.
but feel free to enlighten me.

I think a sly motivation for buy back of sensitive equipment should covertly be put on the table buy C.I.A.

You may not be able to buy a complete one off the shelf at walmart (they tend to be pretty specific to the task at hand), but there is nobody stopping you from making one (assuming you have the know-how). Antennas, STALOs, …. all the stuff you need is COTS. As for FCC (which I presume you meant rather than the ATF), there are plenty of bands on which you are allowed to treansmit. This link will et you started:

rutty you said they were available.
now you say I have to build one.
thanks for proving my point.

I didnt prove your point at all. If you prefer, you could hire someone to build one for you if you wanted. You make it sound as if beacuse one cant pick one out of the sears catalogue that they dont exist and are illegal. Radars aren’t T-shirts. How is that average engineers are working on collision avoidance systems using radar if the “department of commerce has unconstitionally forbidden the sale of them in thr first place.”

If it is any consolation, your tinfoil hat will reflect most of the EM waves.

From a former U.S. Navy and a Active Duty Army member, I am truly surprized at the level of advanced “techno know how” Iran currently possess. Both in R&D (for indiginous systems)as well as research and development not to mention the attention to detail required in “reverse enginnering” pre exhisting systems. Some of which that we in the US military use on a day to day basis ie:comms systems as well as others(sorry cant say which) But you get the picture:o)
