Actually I was thinking about the Su-27 and Mig-29. I believe the Chinese have either one or both of those. The J-10 is probably good too, though. Canards work really well on fighters. They shorten the take-off roll and work well at high angles of attack. They can also reduce trim drag at supersonic speeds.
I remember when the General in charge of the ATF competition edicted there would be no canard equipped fighters winning that competition. What kind of arrogant moron makes a decision like that? It sure took Grumman out of the running. What's worse is having to live with it for more than 20 years. It even effected the design of the F-35. Stupidity on stupidity.

Good Morning Dfens,
I assume that you are refering to the PLA's J-10 Fighter. The J-10 reportably is the product of colaboration between China and Israel.
Not a great deal is know in the west about the J-10 and it has been used as late as this past Spring as a justificatiopn for the F/a-22.
Signal intell. indicates that it is smaller then the Su-27 by a third and is a close cousin to the "Eurofighter". If this is the case existing U.S. fighters as they are are more then the J-10 or a carrier version the J-10B can handle.
So far it appears that China has deployed a Squdn. of the J-10's but has not put them into production. The J-10 in fact might be more for international sales then for the use of the PLA Air Force.
About the moon, I'm afraid you are on the money. The Chinese will already have restruants on the moon waiting for U.S. Astronauts to arrive, before we get back.
ALLONS,

The Chinese will be on the Moon to greet our astronauts. They've got fighters that are better than ours thanks to the Russians. Ironically, the ones that are better are modeled after our F-14, the only supersonic jet fighter we've had with decent range and ordinance carrying capability. Too bad it never had the right engine to make it fight as well as it did everything else.
I hate to hear that about the foil hats. That would explain why the voices haven't entirely gone away.

Good Morning Folks,
My oh my, IR-IED's being used in Iraq. If my fading memory still serves me once in awhile didn't a poster calling himself/herself "pedertrian", a self proclaimed expert on IED's lecture us (me) on how this was impossable. I guess he forgot to tell the terrorists it couldn't be done.
