Read more carefully, Joseph: it says, “According to people with overactive imaginations…” and then cited a number of conspiracy theories. And then the paragraph ends with “It’s also the place NASA filmed the moon landings.“
It’s not an ideal construction, since the last statement is not a part of the first sentence and does not actually fall under the subordinate clause, but the context makes it fairly clear that it’s part of the litany of conspiracy theories involving Groom Lake.
