I know because I was hit by 3 on one single incident in the last 2 weeks. It is all classified so I will NOT get into the details here but let me say this, the naysayers are full of crap. we were hit by shrapnel and were very lucky we were not taken down. That is all I have 2 say thank you

BS. I am a Blackhawk Pilot in the Army and deployed here in Iraq. The AIED IS A FACT . It's very good against aircraft, cruise missiles, and PGMs. Basically puts a wall of tungsten in front of the target and shreds it to pieces.

For a similar concept against aircraft, look at Oerlikon’s 35 mm AHEAD anti-aircraft submunition for use on its AAA systems. I saw examples of both during the Eurosatory show I attended in 98. I'm just surprised nobody has snapped them up and actually used them because they scare the living daylights out of helicopter pilots. They are passive so you don't know they are there until you are sitting right on top of one and the charge goes off in front of you.

Anti-helicopter mines are old news.
