I get a lot of strange e-mails. Very strange e-mails, from conspiracy theorists, mad scientists, over-eager pitchmen, and ranters, digitally foaming at the mouth. But getting three letters like the ones below — in less than twelve hours? That’s the freak-o hat trick. Check out what crawled into my inbox last night:

Sounds like a scam to me although I like the idea of making it techy and sending it to you I suppose in the hope you would post in full with Email return, “reaching more people” while at the same time lending some credibility to the scam.

There are plenty of these “energy from the vacuum” or “Zero Point Energy” folk. Certainly intriguing concepts with lots of theories behind them, but still no energy…

Well for all of you not-so-aware computer users: The key in this message is the lines where he urges you to reply. It is a common trick among spammers, because if you answear their mails, they now that your mail is valid and you can expect even larger loads of spam in the future.
If they are US citizens they can try for a grant or SBIR funding. But from my experience, it is too hard and they seem to only take the worse ideas from the worse people. I have my own ideas that I realized you just have to do them on your own. The new energy idea is certainly possible but the person is from Iran, you would think Iran would be more interested then defensetech would. He could be a defector. You never really do know. Hoax or not.

New energy technology is stiffled because it would collapse the oil infrastructure. Topple trillion dollar companies. And sabotage numerous foreign countries into bankruptcy.
Capitalism and the oil producing countries won’t let it happen. Nevermind trying to submit a patent and getting it stolen.
Ultimately you will end up assasinated.
