It isn’t elitist to be intelligent and to find ignorance and stupidity irritating.
And to assume most soldiers are morons isn’t elitist and it surely is not generalizing. They are.

I wanted to post my 2 cents to say thank you for your great review of The War Tapes and your kind words about us soldiers. Telling the story of the average soldier has been an honor. I am so shocked at how well the film is being received. It is quite exciting for all of us.
Americans should know that they are so blessed to be living in an amazing country that continues to prove the infinite power of freedom.
Freedom is the vehicle that has brought us to where we are. Average Americans are the drivers of that vehicle.
I LOVE THIS COUNTRY!!!

I think soldiers are sharper and, lots of times, more articulate than most. That said, the odds of finding guys *this* sharp, and *this* articulate were steep. Scranton, however, hit the proverbial jackpot.

While I think it was unintentional, your comment on the low odds of Scranton getting a cast of sharp and articulate GIs came across as elitist.
Its would be acceptable to here a soldier say this about other soldiers but coming from a reporter it just sounds bad.….
