There are many ways to close it without using war ships. Just the idea of the possibility of a tanker being sunk by a missile will cause insurance rates to climb where it would not be profitable to go into the straits. Also, attacking the oil facilities would have the same effect. And do not forget about their forces and allies in these countries. Israel has an excellent airforce but in 2006 was not able to stop Hezbollah. I think you take a simplistic approach to the idea of closing the straits.

Iran is a possible customer, that is about the extent of it...not a "brother to mother Russia".
