As Vet in Viet Nam, Navy combat Corpman, retired Federal Agent, successful Defense Contractor. All is well and good for future warfare. However, now we need to concentrate on unconventional and urban warefare to defeat the IED's. I really do hate to say this, but, this is not our father's style of warfare. There are no boxing rules here now against others who do not know what the F a rule of conventional warfare is. How long and how many body bags do we have to have before we adapt, Improvise and overcome?
Simper Fi, from the Jungle Doc.

RE: "....3) I know I said 2 things, but maybe we can stop having wars and eliminate these daunting requirements."

Sure Noraa, we'll stop having wars, just as soon as terrorists stop chopping off heads, flying planes into buildings, blowing up passenger filled buses and trains, and living every waking moment waiting for a chance to blow up more innocent people.

Does this do massage, too? How bout that Pro Football Quarterback that has the plays on his wrist/sweat band; a few buttons to push for calling up 'reserves',etc. on patrol leaders wrist might be a good thing to have were tactical RF signals 'jammed' or something.

When under a mortar or artillery attack the mass concussion wave will render vibration over human tactile senses null. This is definitely when a advancing soldier needs assistance, under direct shellfire, but sensory array that reports via telemetry using FM/AM to record pulse and temperature and concussive pressure changes to aid support and rescue teams to correctly respond.

3) I know I said 2 things, but maybe we can stop having wars and eliminate these daunting requirements.
But...but...if we stop having wars, then how will we ever be able to justify spending ridiculous amounts of money on stuff that makes soldiers vibrate?!?!?!
=8^)

I agree with Steven Snell! I have a phone that vibrates and even when I'm not wearing it I get "ghost" vibrations than make me check my pocket. Shit, can you imagine a tactile sensation being drilled (no pun) into you while in combat training, or actual combat?
You'll find yourself spinning around and shitting your pants anytime a bead of sweat rolls down your back!
Besides that, under all the noise and motion, soldiers are supposed to be in touch with their feelings on top of it? I see a convergence of technologies and our desire to use them all. One of two things need to happen:
1) We need a new primary sensory organ to process huge amounts of disparate information to give us instant god-like situational awareness.
2) We use the organ we have and figure out how to tap this stuff into our brains.
3) I know I said 2 things, but maybe we can stop having wars and eliminate these daunting requirements.
