Or can they or cant they? We just don’t know. The North Koreans, fresh from their smashing success with rocket science over the Fourth of July weekend, could be getting ready to try their hand at nuclear physics. U.S. officials claim North Korea is preparing to test a nuclear device, ABC News reports.
Considering we still dont know if Fearless Leader really is northeast Asias largest importer of luxury Cognac, Im afraid its hard to speculate whether this nuclear test is in the works. But I have another question: will it work?
I keep thinking of Marvin the Martians great quote: “Where’s the Ka-boom? There was supposed to be an Earth-shattering Ka-boom!“

The North Koreans can barely loft a warhead into the Sea of Japan, yet we are told that missile remnants have been found in Alaska and that they can hit the east coast of the US with the hypothetical Taep’o-dong-2, presumably armed with a hypothetical nuclear warhead.
The US administration is actually hoping DPRK can demonstrate nuclear capability as that would spur further development of SDI/Star Wars systems as well as sales of existing missile defense systems such as the PAC-2 to ROK, Japan, Singapore, etc. The destabilizing effect of these anti-ballistic missile systems on China is most certainly a desired byproduct of this strategy if not the primary intent.
BTW, I enjoyed Imaginary Weapons immensely. Nice job.
Er … so why is Marvin the Martian holding a Japanese flag??
No it’ s a flag with planet Mars,it’ s from the movie Duck Dodgers in 24and 1/2 century.
Good Afternoon Noah,
I’m with you 100% on RNK. The only question I have, is how do we know when RNK screws up a nuclear test?
I guess North Korea can always claim to be holding Elvis as a captive, that seems more believable then their missile or nuclear programms.
ALLONS,

From the Article:
“The activity includes the unloading of large reels of cable outside P’unggye-yok, an underground facility in northeast North Korea. Cables can be used in nuclear testing to connect an underground test site to outside observation equipment.”
In other news, large trucks were seen driving into an undisclosed facility in Wellington, New Zealand over the weekend. Top government intelligence officials say this proves that New Zealand has developed an atomic weapon and is willing to use it, as large trucks may be used to transport the components used in nuclear devices.
Seriously, journalism is such a joke these days (except ofcouse for Defense Tech).
