Most amateur clubs have been trained to just such operations and they work weather watch as well as rescue they provide the best form of communications around when all other forms of communications fail including cell phones. During Katrina there were many hams transmitting information and even some CB'ers but you did not hear much about them and what they were doing and what they did and thats the way it happens.
