It just seems to me that hundreds of guys/gals are not dying because of close-air support--they're dying because of IEDs, snipers, RPGs, etc. I'm sure the F-22 is great--but is it really what we need right now. C'mon, there isn't a single country that could even come close to competing in any kind of an air campaign--and we're supposed to spend hundreds of billions on this plane?!! Seems like a waste of money that could be better spendt elsewhere.
