Hey Murc...don't hug Bush too hard or you'll get BS all over you.
Wake up man. The UN is no longer the vision of world cooperation that it was intended to be. Poorer UN member countries use it to get money from more powerful ones, and more powerful ones use it to bargain and get allies in wars that don't make sense. For someone to believe that cow FLATULENCE (which is what they were referring to, not shit) causes more global warming than nuclear weapons testing, automobile pollution, and energy production...it's just idiotic.
Wake up and start reading some before you jump on Bush's lap (and the UN's for that matter).
As the most intelligent species on this Earth (debatable) we have a responsibility to take care of it. It's about time we step up to the plate.

I missed the speech also while attending a conference.
I have a pretty dim view on the reliability of any 'visa' program to track anyone. The U.S. seems to have a difficult enough time trying to determine where the so-called students from, should I say, less than desirable Middle Eastern States are.
Most everything else appears cyclical, whether it is cliamte change (the other GW) or military strength levels. I keep getting that "Haven't I been here before" feeling.

I thought his speech was very well done.
And BTW...anyone notice how Webb "forgot" to mention the legitamacy of those random pulled out of his ass numbers.
Also...to the first poster...dont hug the tree's to hard or you'll get sap all over you.
I assume you didn't read the UN article that stated that Cows "emmisions" (aka:crap) produce more CO2 annually then all the cars.
Back on topic, the only thing I didn't like, was his stance on illegal immagration. He didn't grant amnesty...but close enough. Talking about how he wants it so they dont have to sneak across, and we need to make getting temporary visas easier to obtain. Although all that plan is going to do is let them come in faster...and then when their Visa expires...they stay.
If a country can not secure its borders, then the country will never be secure.

I think the only reason Bush is jumping on the Global Climate Catastrophe wagon is because a serious study with very gloomy predictions is being released this year. It is called the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Here is an article on it.
