Prez’s New Top-Secret Net

photo_ban1_r.jpgThe Pentagon’s IT geeks are putting together plans for a new White House “top-secret network and multimedia Crisis Management System (CMS) designed to operate in a wide range of fixed locations, on Air Force One and on a new fleet of presidential helicopters.” That’s according to the fine folks at FCW.com. The idea is to “provide the president, cabinet secretaries, and designated agency directors and their staffs with a secure, dedicated network capable of handling full motion video, voice graphics and data at 64 fixed and mobile locations.“
131004bushwired.jpgThe new network will also feature a collaborative tool suite similar to Microsoft Share Point. It will allow the top federal leaders to view and work on documents on the networks video displays. Ten locations will be equipped with the new technology in 2008 at a cost of $12 million, according to the DISA [Defense Information Systems Agency] budget documents.
DISA said it will equip two next-generation Boeing 747s that serve as Air Force One and nine new presidential helicopters with the new network and CMS. They will also be on six 757 and two 737 VIP aircraft used by the vice president and cabinet secretaries. The new network will provide the leaders with near perfect reliability and communications survivability, the DISA budget documents state.

Too much 24, fantasies of sitting with fancy computers and making decisions in real time.
Avionics has always cost more than the platform. I hope the industry is happy.

Ben Rich’s book about the Skunk Works has pages and pages on how the government sets out to be as inefficient as possible. I am no longer surprised.

So, how exactly does this tie in to the plot against airline companies? I forgot my tin hat today.

if you can think it ; you can do it. they had a dedicated secure secret net to communicate info in real time. they are probably working on an up grade. something with a higher safe crypto secure comm system. the 64 bit streaming is part of the high speed multi stream system interoptibilty. Microsoft style multimedia multi task direct on time communications applied to national security activities. on time video conferencing sealed exclusively from those who don’t need to know and those who do need to know. a kind of modern day milnet. on Feb 6th , young President Bush visited Micron corporation in Virginia. like his Dad ; who learned to use the PC ; young Bush is kind of a techie. it wouldn’t be unreasonable for DISA to recruit vast forces of college computer sci students to master cyber and counter cyber attacks. hopefully ; DISA will run mock trials on the systems before , they are absolutely relied upon. some find the best test bed is the client. preferably ; the test bed or beta test will be debugged before the alpha test is applied. always have alternate back up systems for communications. Gulf War I ; Saddam was stare’n at a blank war room screen. what a time for your just in time strategic viewing system to crap out. decades ago ; the enemy could decypher the sounds ( harmonics ) of our card punch machines to correlate with the hollirinth code of our key punch cards. the sounds of the printer activity yielded clues. maybe ; the unique power surge modulations and the sounds of the tape drives and operator consoles tipped off the enemy of the old days. in Get Smart ; Maxwell and th Chief had to communicate in the cone of silence. it was a direct link immune from eases droppers. authorized personnel will not be taking the guts of the top secret net home to work on or to update their intensive resumes. the network should be treated strictly much like the seriousness of The Manhattan Project.
