Paki “Babur”

babur-missile-web.jpg

Pakistan test fired a nuclear-capable cruise missile today reportedly with stealth capabilities. The Hatf VII, or Babur as it is known in Pakistan military circles, is a terrain-hugging, radar-avoiding cruise missile, whose range has now been enhanced to 700 kilometres. It is a highly maneuverable missile with pinpoint accuracy, a Pakistani military statement said.

(Test Launch Video from August 2005)

The test comes as protests over the firing of Pakistans supreme court chief justice by the countrys leader, Pervez Musharraf, continue to grow. The generals hold on power has always been tenuous with al Qaeda-linked tribal groups in the west agitating for a Taliban-style government. So this latest missile test could be an attempt to demonstrate his military prowess with angry crowds teeming in the streets.

This is the third test of the Hatf VII missile since 2005, and with its relatively short range, its only a threat to neighboring India. Given the raging opposition to Musharrafs rule, however, a nuclear-tipped Babur in the hands of a fundamentalist government could pose a major threat to U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan.

Since when does pakistan have a nuclear warhead small enough and light enough to fit on that thing? Nuclear capable isn’t really nuclear capable if your nukes are too big to fit on it.

I dont know if it’s a standard American usage, but “Paki” is extremely offensive in British English – pretty much on a par with the N-word.

If “Paki” is similiar to the N-word, what is “Jap”, “Kraut”, “Limy”? Then either don’t read the article, or turn off your computer, or just stay offline!!

Uh, from what I understand, the word “Paki” means something like “holy” in the Pakistan language; hence, the name Paki-stan = Holy-land or something like that. So really, it is a compliment if this is true.

Ok good let’s take a discussion on military news and let it degenerate into a discussion on racial sensitivities.

Actually the name Pakistan originated from the names of 5 ethnic groups. Punjab, Afghan, Kashmir,… etc (I don’t remember the rest). “Paki” does not mean holy.

Move the troops, the Afaganistani civilians, & the India civilians out of the range of danger zones from the missles to begin to nuetralize the threat. Then request the the Pakistani government to move it’s citizens & itself out of Pakistan ASAP! Then give the Taliban a chance to surrender & offer them a choice to decline the use of their missles or risk a simular fate on them if they do! Then respond with the force they choose to do! It is up to the Taliban to end this war once & for all!
