Chaff From Wheat 21st Century-Style

This month-old video from MNF-Iraq shows just how surgical our forces can be when the situation permits:

Bad day to be a bad guy …

The “strafing” looks more like a cluster munition attack, does it not? Or maybe it’s just 30mm HE rounds?

If that was surgical, I’d really hate to see one that was messy.
It would be interesting to know what weapons were being used though.

I’d say 30mm rounds followed up by some sort of PGM, which points to an Apache. But I understand US aircraft have been making more strafing attacks recently due to better gunsights, and it looks more like a JDAM than a Hellfire explosion.
Anyone who’d like to see the effects of non-surgical bombing need only read about WWII air raids. Stone knives and bearskins, so to speak.

I thought so to, at first, but it looks more like fronds coming off the palm trees.
….
And I really do not think that kind of strike counts as “surgical”.
“”WWII air raids…”"
WWII? So what? We are light years away from that.
Surgical?
–No.
Effective?
–Yes.
What was new about that kind of attack (compared to past wars) was the use of a UAV to find the bad guy, follow the bad guy and guide our weapons onto the bad guys. And most likly at night.
Surgical?
Naw.

Oh, c’mon, Dakota. If that ain’t surgical then what is? Take the bad guys out of a tree line and take the weapon out and leave surrounding structures untouched? That’s a pretty deft touch, attack-wise.

Excellent. Kudos to our men and women in uniform.
