Range time IS at a premium, and there are always problems w/coordinating w/other units to use that time efficiently, have supplies delegated for that time, and move the units in to utilize it. How many units can these simulators handle at a time? How much time do units get to train on them? What qualifications/designations does a unit need to be able to even be allowed to use the simulators?
I'm not saying they don't have value, because as the article states, they let soldiers make judgement calls w/o real time consequences. First and foremost, Army soldiers are 11 Bravo's, that is we are ALL Infantry, regardless of our Advanced Individual Training for being MOS qualified. The BIG question is...how can we get the most 'bang for our buck'? And when can we expect more virtual trainers/simulators?

I’m active duty Army, presently deployed, and while I can certainly understand the value of simulators, the problem of supply and demand still remains. The article remains very vague on those things.

I’d really like to know more about this topic; how does it work (hard– and software-wise), what exactly is trained etc.<br
