Was he an Iranian? No.
Had he been trained by Iranians? Yes. But if we are going to hold trainers responsible for everything their ex-pupils do, then there are a lot of instructors from West Point, Sandhurst and (especially) the School of the Americas who will be in for a real kicking.

Calm down Steve, and remember we’re still talking allegations.
If someone who once worked for the CIA is caught doing something bad in South America, that doesn’t mean the US government is involved. And if someone who used to work for Hezbollah is found in Iraq, it doesn’t mean that there’s a big sinister multinational conspiracy to put him there.

My bet is we’ll never see anything concrete on this one either.
