Hey Lewis, I resent that remark.
The USAF as a whole is a very professional organization. You have got to remember why we have a USAF.

?
That's the first time I've heard that argument.
I think that as a R&D source they have been amazing, and that keeping them separate improves efficiency in this area. Also, by training the best fighter pilots I know of in a separate force, they are kept ready and flexible for those joint missions.
But I am just saying what I know, which may not be true. It is, however, my opinion until I am convinced otherwise.

I think the time has come to re-absorb the USAF back into the Department of the Army as a seperate service but one that has controlled budgetary responibilities. The Air Force is scrambling to retain it's relevancy in the 21st century, and is failing to prove that it should be a stand alone Department in the DoD. The Marines are in the Department of the Navy, and have served in that capacity with aplomb. Unfortunately, the USAF has worn out their welcome and has become a bunch of whiny silver spooned brats whenever a forced "joint" mission is brought to bear on their service, especially when they are not the controllers (i.e. medical, UAV, CAS, etc.) I hope Congress has the balls to take this one on, if only to reign in the embarrasment that this pack of weenies has caused our nations Defense service members.
