Good, keep the decisions on the lowest possible level. 500 Predators, though? Good God, hosanah and the highest! Now that's a program that I think all DT readers can get behind and push.

What is needed is not AF or Army UAV but Defense Force UAV, i'm one of those guys who believes there should be no AF, Army or Navy but Instead United States Defense Force, Air, Land and Sea, and the DOD should be abolish in favore of a more robuse organization, with one four star Chief of Staff, three Three Star Chief of Services etc. Streamline, less waste and more bang for the buck. But i'm dreaming it will never happen because no one wants to rock the boat even if it is sinking. Too many heads and not enought leaders we need people who know the job and get it done. Where is a Patton when you need him.

The Air Force likes to think on the "strategic" level where the Army is thinking "tactical". It's hard for some Air Force officer based on CONUS to get excited about 3 bad guys sneaking around a house half a world away. It's a difference in immediacy.
While working as a maintainer on RF-4C's I saw that most wished they had shooters (As a former Army Fire Direction Control troop I had a much different perspective on the importance of timely recon). Hanging recce pods on fighters has probably not helped much in changing the AF attitude.

i think a big problem of the airforce is it doesnt YET have the ability to truly do pinpoint attacks in a city there terrified of collateral dammage like everyones said many a times we need coin aircraft the drones can do that job ok
the specters the c130 variant with the guns sticking out the side are supposed to get a big upgrade

I had a conversation with a friend, who is an Army officer who has done one tour in Iraq, and he says that the Air Force is a bit "unresponsive" to the needs of the guys on the ground.
Specificly the UAV's and the C-130's with the guns sticking out the side.....
I am sure there are two sides to this argument though.
Mainly some Air Force Nerd officer who is afraid to deviate from the script even though the situation has changed on the ground...
Or am I being to cynical?
