I don’t want to read a corporate blog if it’s merely another channel for a press release.
I do want to read corporate blogs in which employees publicly comment on their company’s activities. It seems crazy, but it’s worked for company’s like Microsoft.
These blogs actually exist outside the defense industry, but I doubt that omission will last for very long. The trendlines are pretty clear.
I find corporate blogs like Google’s various blogs to be a very useful source of information. You can find where the corporations is heading and what their latest products are. Many of Google’s entries are well written, thought provoking and also contains many useful tips and updates that you may have not noticed otherwise. Thus, I find these blogs useful (at least in the tech industry).
Is this a rhetorical question? (Is there such a thing as a rhetorical poll?) It doesn’t require much insight to recognize that the answer ranges from “sometimes yes, sometimes no…” From time to time, corporate blogs can be even more interesting than blogs that post pointless polls.
