Added with benefits of telecontrols it has brought in new vistas to unmanned operations. 15 watt two way trans/receiver on each ship is all it takes to control to manage the complex world air traffic. Stored away dormant controllers inside wire mesh is a likely possibility to divert world attention & resources for entirely new dimensions of world affairs. I hope this was not the case for 911.

Boeing had been innovative in aerial transportation gears, has miraculously cut short world distances. I hope they continue to work on this life saving equipment system. The gunship/weapons platfrom is very sexy and all that but why not work on something that could provide necessary supplies to a unit in contact in any conditions and anywhere. (Ammo, H20, meds batteries, you name it.) In many cases we see re-supply rotorwing A/C shot down during these types of missions rather than during the more flashy gun runs! That was true in RVN and I expect it is still true. When you're in a hover and doing a "Kick Out" of grenades/ammo/water, you're a SITTING DUCK! (Ok,... Hovering Duck) If this little guy could hot foot it into the LZ and be expendable while still getting that stuff to the troops, it would be really worth it!! Think how great a Robot Medivac would be! Small and fast and go anywhere/anytime, even if the 1st couple get shot down on the way in, the 3rd, 4th or 5th, still get in and get the guy out and back to med. All with NO LIGHTS at all. NONE! Go Boeing!!! This is great and will save a lot of people & A/C's. JD

This is GREAT! Boeing bought themselves game-changing technology in this concept and I hope they have what it takes to exploit it fully. On a side note, it LOOKS (not neccessarily true - I'm not clicking there!) like the Oregon State hackers association has entered the domain. ;-)

I’ve been following the ‘hummingbird’ (like all of Dr Karem’s projects (yes I’m a huge fan) for a long time. Look forward to seeing this help troops point out where the enemy is and take them out too!

I’ve been rooting for the Hummingbird for a while and was sad to hear they initially had some problems with earlier prototypes.
