Ok we are in the middle of phasing out two perfectly good airframes… the HH-60 Pave Hawk and the MH-53 Pave Low. There is no need to develop a new helo or even look at purchasing commercial options. If you ask me Security Forces would probably love having either one of these airframes covering their butts when the clowns get crazy.

“Why not use V-22 Ospreys?“
Too big.If the Air Force wanted an adequate tiltrotor aircraft,they could use the BA609 Tiltrotor.It’s smaller than the V-22.
I’m surprised though how,except for one other person(this will be the 3rd time I mention it),nobody else is seriously considering the UH-72A Lakota to replace the UH-1N Huey for U.S. Space Command.

Why not just replace them with Chinooks? fastest helo in the current inventory and it can carry a lot of stuff.

I’ll say it again,for stateside missions,the UH-72A Lakota is the way to go.It has two engines like the UH-1N & most likely can do a better job than the UH-1N.It’s either that or have the Air Force buy the upgraded UH-1Y Huey that the Marine Corps are also buying.The UH-72A would most likely be cheaper though.If you just gotta have a tiltrotor aircraft,but not one as big as the Osprey,you could get the BA609 Tiltrotor,but then again,the UH-72A would mostly be cheaper & just as good as the more expensive UH-1Y or BA609.
