Georgia v. Russia

So now that Georgia and Russia have officially challenged each other to fisticuffs, how do the two match up?

Georigan Army.jpg

Georgian tanks w/reactive armor roll into South Ossetia

Georgia has roughly 30k troops serving in the Georgian Armed Forces, with 2,000 of their best troops serving in Iraq. Though small, the Georgian Army is respected by their Coalition partners in Iraq as a highly competent fighting force. They’re equipped with relatively modern Russian weapons, to include some 200 tanks, 450 armored fighting vehicles, Su-25 and MiG-25 fighter jets, and a whole mess of artillery, mortars, surface to air missiles, etc etc.
The Russian bear is still, well… a juggernaut. Ivan’s armed forces weigh in at just over 1 million troops. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation suffered during the harsh post-Soviet breakup defense cuts, but have since flourished under Vladimir Putin. They are technologically advanced, disciplined, and effectively trained. The Russians are familiar and comfortable operating in the Caucasus Mountain region, both from their unification with Georgia under the Soviet Empire and from their fighting in nearby Chechnya.
So yeah, on the surface, it looks like we’ve got a classic David v. Goliath matchup. Not so fast. As mentioned, the Georgians can be mean little bastards. They’ve got a home field advantage, are furiously calling up reserves, and are fighting a Russian enemy that has one (one!!) supply line over the Caucasus into South Ossetia. That logistics line, ironically enough, will be closed in a few short months by Russia’s old tried and true ally — Old Man Winter.
If Georgia can plug that hole, get creative with their air defense assets, kill a whole mess of Russians, and force this thing into a winter overtime — I wouldn’t be surprised if the international community forces a peace favorable to the Georgians.
Of course if they don’t plug that line, I can see Russia’s tanks bringing Georgia back into the family — the old school way.
–John Noonan

America refused to get into the 2nd world war until we were attack at Pearl Harbour…The war would have been lost if America had not participated.., but then again America could not have won the war without all the other nations that participated…As for the holocaust..It really happened and it was as bad as history records…worse really when you consider not only were 6 to 8 million Jews murdered but also another 6 to 8 million Christians atheists, and others also murdered..35 million, mostly russians also lost their lives in the military..Anyone who says otherwise is a liar… I remember the war.. and I have films of death campls, etc..It is too bad humanity is such slow learners that we did not learn from that horrendous war… But Sometimes war is necessary to stop madmen

Pearl harbour was a set up.
Roosevet provoked it and knew it was coming.
There is enough evidence to prove it.
He ordered american planes to be painted as chinese and anhilited japanese cities with incidendiary bombs, the japanese discovered it and attacked the american fleet. The american bloques japan, forced the british against their will to betray japan leaving them backstapped and rounded by american and their allies turning on them all because of american intervention.
The concentration camps are real, as the japanese and chinese are, but there was no real plan to anhilite noone. It was made up as the war was going on to give it more legitimacy and justify the dead of so many american in one of the many european wars that the american had nothing to do there. It was deliberately planned, proved by the joke called the nurenmberg ‘trials’ were magic stories and confessions were signed through torture of the loser side, the germans, they confesed whatever the americans told.
The ‘trial’ was, and still is a shame of the legal system, there was no traslator, no lawyers, hell the jury was made of american generals!.
That was all the ‘proof’ about the holocaust.
After that the forbid to investigate it, right now there are political prisioners in europe, lawyers, historians, reporters, all kind of people who dare to question the ‘official truth’ are behind bars.
There is no evidence of either bodies or the infrastructure for such a massive task. Nor is the accounting of civilians, the numbers don’t match. 1 million people may have died, because it was a war, and the prisioners were the first on the list for food and supplies. If thet wanted them dead they could have killed them right there, why bother keeping them for years! It’s a lie, just like the Maine used to go after Spain in the cuban war, just like the tonkin incident, just like everything your lying white house spokesman tell.
I’m not a conspiracist, i do believe the moon landing, I don’t believe in secret groups organizing the goverments, I just care about what the governments do, what their actions are, what their laws are. Yes, the 11S official theory is bullshit, don’t know exactly what happened, but it’s 100% clear that they are hiding something, the comision should be reopened and given full authority. I may even go to the point of admiting that maybe, maybe they have a reason to hide it, maybe one of the buildings was a secret cia headquarters of something like that, maybe the attackers use some advantage that for national security reason must remain classsified, but don’t tell that what the government tells is real. And by the way, I don’t care much, accidents happened, there are crazy people out there outside of mental facilities, some crime may happen from time to time, but the totalitarian laws approved with that excuse, as with the fake anthrax, that concers me, the goverment is very powerfull and should be look upon with caution, power corrupts, and big power as is the excuse of terrorism, is very danger.
Laws don’t cease to exist because we are at war, they are explicitely design for war, it is at these moment when they are needed most, in these times of emotions, hatred, and suffering is when we have to be carefull not to kidnapp or kill innocents. And americans talking about innocent killed during the world war…you know, you launched to nukes on civis, just to prove your point, scare the soviets, or augment your ego, you didn’t have to do that, the japanese fleet and aire force were destroyed, their country under blockade, they weren’t a theat. It was a war crime.

    A) Maybe.
    B) The Russians don’t HAVE any high-readiness units. Their military is in shambles. That means they had to make extraordinary preparations to get the 58th up and running without clogging the streets with broken-down vehicles.

Vercingetorix, so, the russians can’t have spies? or intelligence? or any kind of rumours or information or knews of georgians troops moving in? they live in another planet and all the growing military budget of the georgians, their wargames, training, all of that are thins that the russians never heard of, their troops are all stationed in siberia hunting bears, they would never have troops in their frontiers near a historical conflict, or a region where lots of other guys are preparing to move in, they don’t have spyplanes or sats or old-fashion spiess, only the US have them right?
So, you accused of lunatics those who dare question the official 11S story(tm, trademark, like walt disney stories), but suggest that somehow the russian either magically bombed their city from the enemy front or make the georgians attack osetia somehow

Yeah, the Russians don’t have KBR to supply all their needs like we do. That’s why the U.S. has the strongest & greatest army in the world, because WE have KBR to support us.

Russia is using military force to help Abkhazia & South Ossetia to break away from Georgia.
For those who don’t know Georgia is directly south of Chechnya.

I wonder if the “wonderful peacekeeping” Russians (I am being sarcastic) will build a wall in Ossetia to “protect” the Ossetians. Berlin Wall part 2.
I think that this “flexing” of Russian muscle is to make them feel like a real power again. They are trying to prove to the world that they are a mighty military force by invading a puny country right next to them. They are like the high school yard bully. They pick a small country close by and then bomb civilians. Yeah, tough, really tough…
I love when Ukraine threatened to block Russian shipping. That brought an interesting response from russia, “This is most unexpected” they said. Yup just like in real life, stand up to the bully with numbers and he folds.

If you read what Putin said, it was unexpected because they say they are friends and then suddenly betray them.

Ptsfp, you know, I consider myself kind of libertarian, I don’t usually like the government or burocrats, I think society works perfect withour a government or a state, of course a transition would need time but i do believe a better world could be possible without taxes and laws governing our morality, it would be more efficient and more free. So, I’m just the opposite of a communist, I want 0% government, and 100% private property, although I prefer it the property was aquired legally and through legitimate means, just property. I’m not against violence or defense, it just that I’m against initating it, if you are attacked, legitimate defense, but initiating the use of force is a crime, a real one, not like those crimeless victims like ‘burning a flag’ or ‘buying a us flag made in china’, so, i hate communists, and the urss, i explained before that i even prefered a europe ruled by hitler than the europe ruled by stalin, the point is, you didn’t, you gave East Europe to the soviets, hell you even start the whole war ‘trying to protect Poland’ and ended with Poland destroyed and ruled by the iron boot of the urss, great rescue! You promised full protection to a bunch of fascist generals in poland who were abusing poor civilian germans who were put under polish ruled by the unjust and vengeancefull treaty of versailles. You basically started what Roosevelt called, with his own words, “The Unnecesary War”, there’s a new book with this exact title. It has a lot of other well proven ‘gems’ of your might leader and all powerfull president. Even after dead, he still continues his dream of bringing more wars and destruction to the world thanks to a carrier in his name.
So the Berlin wall was not a good idea, had I lived during the russian revolution I would have fight against the bolcheviks. But, the berlin wall is not the only one, there is the Koren DMZ, a frontier who still separed families and that the koreans of both sides wanted to end, but your military presence doesn’t help, indeed, just so you can keep troops near china you are stopping the inminent reconciliation, not so good.
And yes, I’m a spaniard, ask whatever proof you want, although I don’t see the relevance.

Don’t bother replying, cause I won’t. Other than this, I will not argue with someone who does nothing to try and change a supposed oppressive government. Granted it won’t work, but it would be funny to see you try.
