The intercepted Russian bombers were probably crammed with electronics and were the equivalent of the old (and forgotten) Russian “fishing vessels” that monitored U.S. military transmissions during war games and satellite launches. Fishing boats are too slow and uplinks to Russian satellites provide real time monitoring of U.S. activities when intercepting old, harmless bombers.

Why send a prob bomber over it makes no sense?
Slow vulnerable it’s just a game.
The thing looks like something from the 50’s then again it’s Russian it probably is.
I bet it’s more a spy mission than ought else.
Why don’t we fly bomber to there coast line or do we already?
Honestly what does Russian think this achieves other than provoking tensions?
