I understand all the concern with military spending, but lets be honestly if we want the money to spend on anything military included we have to get our budget under control. The biggest boom times in US history was when we mannaged to balance the budget and begin shrink the debt (Even just a little). If he (either one) can do that we will quickly find outselves with a booming econ. and which will greatly increase tax income for the fed which allows for more military spending. I don't know why everyone keeps yelling about cutting spending and raising taxes when we are 10 trillion in debt and rising. That's like a 50k a year household having almost a half million in debt. 50% of our budget goes to paying on debt. You want a larger amount for the military (Which I do too) if we had no debt we would have an extra $1T a year to spend where ever we wanted.

lets hope McCain will win and get spending under control. We need LCS, FCS, JSF, F-22, and CVNX but we need to keep costs low, not cancel these programs all together

He'll withdrawl combat troops. But alot of the troops withdrawn will just rotate back to do PMC "security" work under contract with the U.S. The investments made thus far in Iraq will be preserved one way or the other.
.
As far as saving money cutting military spending? Obama and his people obviously have their eyes on something. Whatever it is, it must be so obnoxiously overpriced, under-utilized or otherwise unneeded that even one with a civilian background -- Obama -- can readily discern its no-bid porkiness.
