I really have my doubts on this one; SWATS sounds like an after-the-fact solution - only effective after the enemy sniper has already engaged you with his/her first shot. Sort of like locking the barn door after your first horse ran away. The advertised accuracy of SWATS has to be concretely defined; otherwise it is no more believable than the highly-acclaimed myth of global warming. The money waisted on SWATS could be better used within DoD.

The SWATS system looks a lot like the MILES training system. Use any means available. When I was an FO for artillery I had a pair of field glasses, compass and a map, and a PRC. Look what they have now! I like the idea of sniper duels, but they have the advantage of knowing the area. So lets get a leg up and take that advantage away. I have always thought about the pelvic area to shoot people. It completley takes them out of the game and they can forget about the 72 virgins or the 72 year old virgin? could never get that one right. Of course shoot what you can see. but if the chance presents itself do it low. God Bless the Fire Eaters Semper Fi

The Marine General maybe right, but as always adapt and over come. Use any means available. Does this device give vector and distance or just vector? Not sure how accurate a positional fix is with just one unit.

Perhaps something UAV mountable would be of help.
Does this device give vector and distance or just vector? It should read 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, not 56th National Guard Battalion. They're Pennsylvania National Guard.

Slight type there Christian.
