I had an opportunity to see a media preview of this movie today here in DC. And while I’m not allowed to issue a formal review of the film yet, I will say it was a good start at Iraq/Afghanistan war movies.
I think it’s high time Hollywood starts producing some flicks that tell the dramatic stories of combat from the GWOT. I’m sick of BS torture and GTMO movies — enough with the political diatribes. Where’s “No True Glory” and “Jawbreaker” already?

GWOT? I’m sorry, you meant to say the overseas contingency operation. Corrections are to be made immediately. Thank you for your co-operation in this on-going matter.
Sincerely,
Janet Napolitano
Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security
BTW, Christian, now that you’ve used the term GWOT, DHS has tagged you a “right-wing extremist”. Have a nice day.
This must have been made outside of Hollywood. If it was made in Hollywood, the hero soldiers would be minority lesbians in wheelchairs who are on welfare (but hard working) and the bad guys would be whiter than white male Christian soldiers who blow themselves up for Jesus and George Bush.
Oh, and the hero minority lesbian soldiers in wheelchairs on welfare (but hard working) would be Muslim, too. That’s important. Can’t forget that.
From the guy that made Point Break….oh boy, guarnteed to suck hard!
Great movie. I’ve already seen that in theatre here in Italy. Good actors and a really thrilling story.
And by “ninjas” you mean “rednecks” or “dupes” or “morons”, correct?
We all know those are the only people dumb enough to be tricked into fighting in the sandbox.
And say what you want about Point Break, the foot chase seen in the middle of that movies was one of the best-choreographed and best-shot chase scenes I’ve ever seen.
And by “ninjas” you mean “rednecks” or “dupes” or “morons”, correct?
-Since rednecks were Democrats, you could be on to something here.
Is anyone else seeing a PMC or SOF member with a shemagh and Kalashnikov with Surefire, and one behind a shielded .50-cal?
point break kicks ass. get over it, jonny utah is a hero.
this movie looks good in the same way that one jon wayne vietnam movie looked good, remember that one, wheres hes a green beret or something and its very pro nam agenda. funny.
Christian: “tell the dramatic stories of combat”
I’m guessing you mean here are “stories that make one particular group look good” rather than accurate ones. As with Vietnam, if you want movies that make the war look like a good idea, I think you’ll be disappointed. EoD disposal teams are heroes, but too soon people are going to ask why they’re needed.
And the whole “Global War on Terror” branding has been dropped, like that “War on Drugs” and the earlier “War on Poverty” it just didn’t take.
Christian,
Damn, you seem to have a serious glut of negitive minded FOOLS commenting on this movie… “We all know those are the only people dumb enough to be tricked into fighting in the sandbox.” You got to love pinheads that have no idea about the reality of life. It must be all that smoke that Obama is blowing up their asses… it’s making their thinking a little fuzz around the edges.
I consider it a great unfairness that time and place have conspired to deny
Christian a job at the Red Army Culture and Propaganda division.
It’s unfair on all of us.
I like to call GWOT the ‘enhanced terrorist removal program’ cause is sounds more innocuous.
Sgt Oblat. I can’t help but question why you are even here. You seem to only spew hatred out in every comment you post. Are you that mad at life that you get such a kick out of hating everything and everyone? Please, either post something constructive or don’t post at all. I can understand negative reactions to a post, but you provide nothing to this site but filth.
Hey Utah! Get me two!
I’m gonna watch Point Break again this weekend. Thanks for reminding me.
