NASA Bombing the Moon Tomorrow

moon bomb.jpg

You guys have probably seen the reports about this, but we just wanted you to know where to go to get the straight gouge. NASA has a pretty amazing site dedicated to this mission. Check it out.

What do we think — water, yes or no?

And I have dibs on “Moon Bomb” as the name of my next band.

You imperialistic American piggy dogs will not get away with this. We will fight you in the streets, we will fight you in the country, we will… oh… wait a minute, did you say the moon??

…BTW, they already know for fact there is water on the moon, this little bombing will just be the final conclusive proof.

NASA is bombing the moon, and X Prize is trying to land on the moon. Guess the next race will be living on the moon.

Damn MOON!! HERE’S BOMB IN YOUR EYE!!!!!
No realy we know theres water just is we need to know the amount per pound or so of regolith (moon dirt) and if its thicker at certain points.

Your behind the times man nukes are old news.
Rods from god are in.
The moon would be a good place to begin refining and construction for space industry and defense though.

We know there is water; we just need to know how much. If fact we know how to extract the water from the regolith already. Now we just need to know how much.
If we find there is a lot there are high hopes for making rocket fuel out there (H20 plus electricity equals fuel and oxidizer). We just drop a small nuke plant up there, regolith is almost perfect for making cement which is a great shield against cosmic rays, and radiation (Even heavy particle radiation) so building will not require moving massive loads to the moon. Ships can carry just enough fuel to get them to the moon and pick up fuel for missions beyond from there. We could maybe even design ships to use out there that last more than one mission.
I hope we get off this planet soon, we need more space and it seems that the single point of failure we have here on earth is just asking for the end of us.

I hope we can see a debris trail from the moon tomorrow night. That would be AWESOME

I wish they spent more time/money in exploring the oceans. I mean, what if they found a planet that was made of gold? We would never be able to feasibly launch ships out to it, mine and return the materials to the Earth. It just wouldn’t be practical. Ok, maybe in a thousand years this would be practical, but not anytime soon.
We are throwing massive money into space programs that we may never see a return on. If we spent more time/ effort in Ocean programs, I believe the yield would be much better.
With that out of the way, it does sound cool to practive bombing runs on the moon. We will need the practice once Russia claims it and places their missile shield there… :)

Valcan +1 on the rods from god comment, tungsten rods taking care of Irans underground nuke sites at 40,000 fps with no fallout is an epic solution!
back to the moon, I have an 8 in telescope and a clear view of the moon tonight (lucky no clouds in massachusetts tonight) I wonder if ill be able to get a good view of the impact. now if i can just work on getting up early lol

Ill answer you like this.
A) We spend money on space because like it or not our destiny lyes out there. Think about it this way a single asteroid is thought to contain over a trillion doallars in resources.
Yes the trillion dollars like the entire us econmy a year is 20 or so trillion.
That is a average size.
B) The universe and earth wants to kill us. WTF do you think aids is.
Seriously so many ways to do it and keeping all of us on one planet is stupid anyways.
C) Space has lots of…space. Seriously the human race is in a state of libo everything is kind of stagnant. Theres no where to go but out. We need it for the reasources for the ability to get out of reach of those who would control us wether we want them to or not.
D) He who controls the high ground wins. Modern life isnt possible without space. Period.
And space is the ultimate high ground.
And ultimatly space programs have more than payed off by now. During everypart of your everyday life your around things given to you by space reaserch.

Ahead of us lie probably 30 years of discussing whether or not they really did bomb the moon, or if it was a hoax done with CGI.

pssh…
If it was CGI then they really skimped on the effects.
Where’s the kaboom?!? There’s supposed to be a moon-shattering kaboom!

Valcan,
The “Black Smokers” on the ocean floor release more energy than is generated by man on the entire planet, yet little is done to exploit it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_smoker
As to the “space” problem, the entire population of the world could fit in Texas.
Many of the issues that the planet faces, like Global Warming, etc, are blown way out of proportion for political reasons. Areas of the Earth that are tundra now instead of tropical kinda blow global warming out of the water. I believe that the Earth has warming and cooling stages that it naturally goes through.
Only 2 people have been to the deepest part of the ocean and that was in 1960, since, about 500 people have been in space.
I guess what I am trying to say is the Ocean is a whole lot closer than outer space and still leaves much to be discovered.

Astronomic instead of geographic fix, huh Valcan?
Haven’t you heard this?: Wherever you go, there you are.

Yes but the difference is that in space we can always keep moving. Or fight back.
Here we cant do crap. If we threw off one group another comes. And there is always the fact that a certain % of the population will always do what is easiest. Obey.
Face it man staying on earth is a dead end.
