BREAK-BREAK: Units to Get New Camo Revealed

new-afghanistan-camo-units

I’m set to post a new story on Military.com with exclusive details on which units have received the two different camo patterned uniforms the Army is experimenting with in Afghanistan.

Defense Tech is the first site to reveal this information, which comes from a quick interview this morning with PEO Soldier’s Col. Bill Cole.

According to Cole, the 3rd Squadron of the 61st Cavalry Regiment has already been issued the UCP-Delta duds, including a new chest rig developed for Natick and patterned in the UCP-D. And if you’re one of the lucky Joes in the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, you’ll be getting a whole ensemble of the U.S. military’s  most popular camo pattern: MultiCam.

Cole said the service used rapid equipping force funds to purchase plate carriers in MultiCam and each Soldier will be issued molle gear patterned in Crye’s colors.

Both battalions operate in Afghanistan’s eastern Kunar province.

You can read more details this afternoon on Military.com, but I thought I’d go ahead and spill the beans here for our faithful followers.

All these posts about fashion and nothing about matching accessories, the latest in shoes or personal fragrances.

Of course it’s still a lot better then those horribly unfashionable Taliban — who are currently too busy winning the latest afghan war to be bothered with this seasons colors.

The number of specialists who comment that they’d rather be seen dead than in tan — and get shipped home in a box the next week, must be of concern.

But Oble… winning will mean nothing when the world sees the ragged, clearly no-label attire they are wearing. They should at the very least wear Calvin and Klein lunghis.

I ment to add in response to the news post:
No, I can’t see the Multicam hydration carrier. It must be camo’d too well against the similar color’d terrain, and my eyes were automatically drawns to the whitish/grey uniform that sticks out like a sore thumb.

I did note that the only part that sort of matched the terrain is the worn-out elbow area (okay, and the hydration carrier).

Yes this whole cammo thing is a joke. A joke on the American taxpayer. Cammo doesn’t work.

I used to laugh at the guys dressed in their BDU’s and face paint as they stuck-out like a sore thumb behind any so called concealment. Black is not a natural color and made them stick-out badly. These uniforms they keep coming up with are a joke and do not work.

The Israelis do not use cammo because it doesn’t work. Simple olive drab and/or a tan color works best, like the uniforms of WWII. Too many armchair commandos in the Pentagon worried about what looks slick, cool, sexy and dramatic. While we wonder how to pay our mortgages they wonder how to dress their Barbie’s, Ken’s and G.I. Joe’s.

I know! It’s not as if they field test them or anything, right?

The best to get good camo is to find a nice puddle, jump face-first into it and roll around a bit.

Then again under the outrageously stupid “must-look-cool” uniform regulations the US army has, that would probably only be allowed if said person happened to be on fire.

Oh wait, your uniforms are fire-retarded (hey, had to get that joke in here somehow), in that case hell just have to wait until the fire dies down, after which hell be forced to change into his spare set of fresh, new, super-bright ACU’s with added reflector stripes and neon lighting system.
