MultiCam Sighting

Trolling through the latest uploads from the military PAOs in Afghanistan, I spotted this one of some Joes from 2–12 Infantry patrolling in Kunar province.

You’ll notice the OTV, helmet cover and pouches aren’t in MultiCam, but I have the explanation so stay tuned to Military.com for an article tomorrow on the latest Af-Cam distribution and testing.

From the looks of it, the multicam seems to break up the soldier's silhouette a bit more effectively than the ACUPAT does.

Again, the US fixation on believing that the war will be won based on who has the best cam gear. The Taliban can't even spell the word. This web site seems to be based on dragon skin armour, cam gear, and the M-4 vs the HK-something.

The war is being funded by the US using its Chinese credit card, and it is squandering it on trivial things. It appears from what I have been reading over the years that the war seems to be benefiting GD and BAE, and Boeng etc more than the US public.

When the US has reached its credit card limit it will finally start fighting the war, or leave. Probably leave.

Pete,

CTFO,

I keep seeing more and more of these quite frankly stupid post and its pissing me off. Having the right gear lets you fight the war better. Means less f 'ups and our guys having a better and easier time of it while getting the job done.

This site has proven before dragon skin doesnt work so wtf is the idea there? The M-4 is the main light weapon of the US army so it kinda diserves some attention ya think.

As for the credit card thing kinda agree. (see im not a absolute a-hole.)
As for BAE, GD and "Boeing" making money………..my god you mean companies accually dont expect money for there services in your world?!!!!!!!

Seriously. CTFO.

Pete, you and Zandor need to get your own web site so you two can blog and cry about $hit that doesn't matter, like which eyeliner is best for water-proof wear, etc. etc. etc……..
THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT CAMMO HERE, NOT THE FREAKIN' DEFICIT !!

combatdoc December 29, 2009 at 4:36 pm

Cammo can mean all the difference. How long would someone last wearing hunter's florescent orange Pete?

Doh December 29, 2009 at 12:29 am

Does it really matter? By spring 2010, when things dry up, they'll either be back in ARPAT or whining for another color. British tan maybe? The Taliban won't be sniping at them from 600 yards out, they'll be doing the same old close range ambush and IED thing…neither scenario will be helped by MultiCam.

After several months of making fun about this site's obsession with camo uniforms, it suddenly occurred to me that this site has nothing to do with the US military.

This site is about nothing other than a bunch of homosexual " macho " fashion mavens needing to express their particular fashion desires.

It won't be long before we will be reading here about the proper sort of eyeliner to be worn in different multi situational tactical combat environments.

The New US Soldier needs to have two ruck sacks.

The primary will be for his ever changing wardrobe and cosmetic needs, and the other ruck sack will for some non essentials.

What a joke this place is!

Ya sure Zandor, this place is a joke and you are the punch line. So why don't you get your ass off of here? Why do you take advantage of reading and posting on here if it is such a terrible site? Are you that insecure with your own masculinity that you have to bash real men? You have to bash and hide behind a keyboard. I'm not hiding, my address is 112 Fritts Way, Kimberling City, Missouri, just outside of Branson. So if you want to bash, come on down and I'll show you some Ozark hospitality. So tell us all….just what type of eyeliner do YOU use? Is it the kind that is water-proof so that when someone kicks your ass and you go running home to mommy it doesn't run. The only thing that should be running around here is you, the hell out of here.

Zandor December 29, 2009 at 10:21 pm

My goodness, you live just outside of Branson Missouri, in the world famous mecca of Kimberling ( The world’s twelfth largest land fill ) Mo.

The last I heard was that Branson was doing its best to attract red neck idiots, and that Branson was doing a good job at doing it.

Is your residence near the area that has the trailer parks, Porty potty clean outs, and truck stops, or is it on the other side of Branson, where the Branson land fill and waste treatment plant is located?

In either case you should feel quite at home.

Have a nice year in the suburbs of Branson Mo.

Zandor, you are the joke. Quit being such a troll. Some of us actually have to wear this stuff in combat and it ain't about fashion… it's about soldier's lives. Do us all a favor and take your bitterness someplace else.

First off, Zandor and Pete this website is about defense technology which includes uniforms, ruck sacks, boots, weapons.

Christian does a great job about finding out current equipment being fielded to Joe's that are in Stan or Iraq.

I have been in the Army for 7 yrs and have worn every uniform from BDU's, DCU's to now the ACU. The uniform that we were in combat has alot to do with how we perform.
Issues like blowing out the knee's, crouch, and a$$ need to be addressed. The ACU is to light of a uniform for heavily forested/green areas. If you dont believe me pick up an ACU uniform give it to a friend and have them walk through a forest. They might as well be wearing a pink uniform.
It is not THIS websites obsession with the camo uniforms. It is a huge subject that has been going on since 2004 when the Army started to issue the ACU.

As for the weapons how is that no def tech. Obviously you don't know jack about weapons and have never been in Combat with an M4. I would give up my M4 for an M14 any day. The difference is like throwing a brick down range and using a bb gun. Yes the bb gun may sting and put an eye out but the brick will do damage.
The size of the round isn't the only problem. The gas operating system is crap. HK at least came up with a gas piston system to alleviate the problems with all the "gunk" coming back and jamming the system.

Just because every post isnt about the US military who cares. What other militaries in the world do effects us. We learn from there mistakes and there good doing as they do ours.

And lastly, who cares if GD, BAE, and Boeing are the main ones benefiting from the war. You are incorrect in saying the US public does not benefit from those companies. For every contract that is awarded to those companies opens up jobs for Americans. Im sorry if your lazy a$$ is in the wrong industry and cant get a job with them, maybe you should do less complaining and enlist in the military and go fight overseas.

Isn't this classical, the closet experts like Zandor and friends make comments from the safety of their closed little worlds. Unless you have something interesting or an intelligent comment. Leave the web site to the adults and you go and do whatever the hell you do !

Ok i have a question i see alot of afghan forces with berrets on.

Is this just officers (are they that stupid?)

Or do they not issue helemts?

Ole80sVet January 2, 2010 at 1:40 pm

No, Valcan, thats the Euro way. Always has been. Helmets are uncomfortable and they can't have that now can they? Lets mold them in the truly ineffective shape of a frenchie or belgie or you fill in the blank. NATO blows and the US shows.

Dear BOCAT 9:

What a heroic code name you have, to be sure.

Just how many lives have been saved, by one cammo switch to another cammo switch, to yet another cammo switch?

This Macho Site is nothing other than " ULTRA Camo GAY ".

Reply

BOCAT 9 December 29, 2009 at 2:35 pm

No, Zandor, it is not "heroic". However, the young soldiers assigned to the Baghdad Operations Command Advisory Team whom I had the privilege of leading ARE heroes. It is a tribute to them.

combatdoc December 29, 2009 at 3:56 pm

Zandor,
Bobcat 9 is not a "code name". It's called a 'handle', something your little mind could not begin to comprehend. It wouldn't take a Bobcat however to scoop your a$$ up and haul it out of here. Again, no threats, just a fact. And again, my address is 112 Fritts Way Kimberling City, MO. Not hiding behind a keyboard.

It appears to me that Afghan soldier is holding an M249. Is that what it looks like to some of you others with good eye sight and even better knowledge of small arms?

Reply

BOCAT 9 December 29, 2009 at 2:01 pm

Good eye Ed!. It is an M249. The Afghans started fielding them last year along with M16s, M240s, M203s and M9s. No doubt they've since replaced even more of their equipment with American stuff.

combatdoc December 29, 2009 at 4:06 pm

I can tell Bobcat 9 and Ed! are of a different generation than mine. All I knew was M14 and 16's and an occational AK. Being a Corpsman with the grunts I did have a sawed off (at both ends) 12 gauge and my trusty 1911 Colt.

Reply

BOCAT 9 December 29, 2009 at 5:21 pm

I'm a big fan of the sawed off 12 gauge myself, Doc!

Multicam, great to see them used on regular units of army or being fielded. but i have noticed that everyone has practically forgotten the basics of cammouflage wear cammo paints, break up the silhouette with local vegetation and not just the uniform itself. Consult your manuals.
anyway good luck to every members of the armed forces and good civilian bloggers like me.
Those people like Zandor you are wasting your time and don't bother comment on this site again your critic is not constructive. if you don't support the good servicemen and women who stay up fighting hostile who are bent on destroying your country while you sleep safe and sound in your beds at home.
