We’re barely halfway through the week, but I don’t think anybody is going to top AvWeek’s inimitable Bill Sweetman on the F-35 program: “Remember this distinction: The Donner Party was on track. They were not on schedule.”

wow I love that.
Great Quote! When you were invited to the Donner Party, you did not want to be the "Center of Attention."
Error:
Donner Party was OFF Track & got caught in winter snows & died.
IE Bad planning & bad mgmt.
Is this same for the JSF.
See US History, Gold Rush era.
The quote must be heartwarming for the JSF folks, but for reasons I doubt were intended.
For you see, Bill Sweetman is most noted in the deepest darkest corners of the aerospace sector for the voluminous predictions and speculations made in his books and articles over these now-many years. 'Notable' because, with the exception of the most painfully obvious sequiturs, the predictions and speculations have been consistently and spectacularly 'wrong' — Which is highly entertaining to those on the inside: a strange and unique mixture of reliably humorous 'WTFO?' moments that generates constant wonderment and awe of the kind of skill it must take to stay employed in their wake.
