DT amigo Michael Yon is currently in Thailand, but he just gave us a heads up about a post he did that relates to Afghanistan. In his latest dispatch, Michael makes a comparison between the ‘Stan and Nepal, and he wonders why the Afghans haven’t unleashed the power of “Gobar Gas” (dung balls) to solve their energy needs (like the Nepalese have).

Great article about a great idea. Things like this can win the war better than any bomb.
It’s easy to forget that 1/2 of the people on this planet heat and cook with wood and dung.
How will the Talaban greet this innovation to the villages in Afghanistan?
It is a very good idea. Though I'm not sure about how the apparatus is maintained, it seems like it would be a solution to much discomfort when it comes to energy supply. It reminds me of the bicycle pumps from the Ugly American. Specific solutions for specific problems.
First, get yourself a Taliban, then stuff the dungball down his(it's?) throat. Problem solved!!!!!!
Why not? Many peoples used them in the past. It works. It's cheap and available. K I S S priciple at work.
