Well it’s been a while coming but Russia just signed a $1.6 billion deal to buy two Mistral class amphibious assault flat tops from France. Yes, its a good step toward modernizing the hard-up post-Soviet navy. We’ll see if Russia can follow through with its massive naval rebuild. Oh, and look out, (ex-Soviet state) Georgia!
