TMZ drone reports proved false

by Mike Hoffman on November 28, 2012

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that TMZ, the celebrity news outlet, is one of many private organizations to along with federal agencies that have applied to the Federal Aviation Administration to operate drones in the U.S.

TMZ, however, disputes that report saying their company has never applied for a drone authorization. The FAA backed TMZ up releasing this statement:

“TMZ does not have FAA authorization to fly an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS), and we have no record that TMZ ever requested or inquired about an authorization.”

Celebrity media outlets in Europe have been known to use drones to take photos of celebrities outside the U.S. However, TMZ was staunch in its rebuke of taking part in such practices in the states.

TMZ points out that drones “are in fact, awesome” but the media outlet released a statement saying “TMZ is NOT getting in the DRONE business … we don’t have a drone … we don’t want a drone … we never applied for a drone … despite a bogus report to the contrary.”

So, it appears Brangelina and Tom Cruise can sleep soundly tonight and not have the same bad dreams an al Qaeda leader might have when they hear the light hum of a UAV hovering over their home.

This along with the OBSESSION with China. Maybe DT should move to a new continent?

China is understandable. They’ve grown at an incredibly rapid rate, and are even trying to copycat our tech. Couldn’t they possibly pose a threat to us in the near (here meaning 20-30) future?

Possibly… But "recent" history (and thus their ingrained mindset) suggests otherwise. They didn't build the "Great Army of China" to protect themselves after all. They suffered heinous atrocities at the hands of the Japanese in WWII.

Besides, all these articles should be under the "Eye on China" link. Whatever happened to all the positive, inspiring stories about OUR military??!?

Maybe Lindsay Lohan is an alien. Didn't you see Men in Black?

I'm starting to think the same thing. What is making news (and how it's portrayed) is making me want to drop this site. A shame after some good years.

Tom Cruise already has a full plate of wacko conspiracies without having to rely on TMZ drones.

I need this drone to sustain my craving for all things happening in Hollywood!

How will I ever keep up with the Kardasian-Spears-Lohan terrible trifecta of travesties on television?
